On KLM flights from Europe, at least 6 p.m. from Wednesday evening because of the strike at KLM Catering Services (KCS), the airline reports on Wednesday. The strike lasts until 7:00 a.m. on Friday morning.
The strike is part of a broader 24-hour strike of employees at catering companies. FNV called for this on 10, 17 and 24 October.
Twenty thousand catering staff are active at FNV Catering, including staff from the KLM catering service.
Harry de Wit, director at FNV Catering, says that there is a minimum occupancy at KCS to provide food and drink for intercontinental flights. He says to expect delays. KLM does not count on delays.
Employees at caterers such as Sodexo and Albron are also on strike, says De Wit. Some companies and organizations, such as the Free University in Amsterdam, are also discontinuing the canteen.
