The actions planned by the trade unions at Shell Moerdijk may continue, the court in Breda decided Friday in summary proceedings instituted by Shell.

Shell has asked the court to prohibit the actions. According to the oil company, safety is at stake if the employees go on strike. As a result, a major maintenance campaign could not take place.

“The court has rejected all Shell's claims. That means that we will continue with the announced actions, ”says CNV Vakmensen negotiator Piet Verburg.

The unions have called on the employees of Shell Moerdijk to only operate normal services in the coming period, so no 12-hour services. The employees will also not work overtime.

Shell and the unions had Friday until 3.30 pm to reach an agreement themselves, before the court would decide.

Shell and the trade unions cannot agree on a new collective labor agreement for the company. The unions are committed to a structural salary increase of 5 percent per year. They also want the workload to go down. Shell's bid is a lot lower.
