The son of Formula 1 world record champion Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher, will make his debut as a test driver for Ferrari next Tuesday after the Bahrain Grand Prix on the local circuit. That confirmed the racing team.

In addition, Schumacher will turn on Wednesday at the Sakhir race track laps in the car of Alfa Romeo, the partner racing team of the Scuderia. The former Sauber team works closely with engine supplier Ferrari. Even Alfa Romeo has confirmed the test ride meanwhile.

"I'm obviously more than excited and would like to thank Ferrari for giving me this opportunity," Schumacher said. "I'm looking forward to this certainly great experience."

Schumacher has been a member of the Young Academy of Ferrari since mid-January. Before he can make his next move towards Formula 1, he first expects his debut in Formula 2. There he rose after winning the Formula 3 European Championship last year with the Prema team.
