Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup for the eleventh time in its history, after winning 4-1 on penalties against Atletico Madrid in the final match of Sunday.
And at the "Al-Jawhara Al-Radioha" Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, both teams were unable to shake the net during the normal time of the match, in order to reach two additional stages in which the result did not change.
The riyal completed the second additional period with ten men after Federico Valverde was sent off in the 115th minute, but Atletico did not take advantage of the numerical deficiency in the ranks of his opponent, the match ended in a negative tie and the two teams were forced to referee to the penalty shootout that eventually smiled in the interest of the riyal.
With that, the Real reduced the difference with its traditional rivals Barcelona - the record holder in winning the championship with 13 titles - to just two titles.
