Real Madrid crowned the Spanish Super Cup for the eleventh time in its history, after winning a 1-4 penalty shootout victory over Atletico Madrid in the final match of the competition on Sunday evening.

On the (Al-Jawhara Al-Radioha) Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, both teams were unable to score during the normal time, so they needed to play an additional half-hour that is divided equally in two games.

During the extra time, Real played with ten men after Federico Valverde was sent off in the 115th minute, but Atletico did not take advantage of the numerical deficiency in the ranks of his opponent, to end also with a 0-0 draw and the two teams were forced to play a penalty shootout that eventually smiled in the interest of the Real.

In this way, the Real reduced the difference with its arch-rivals Barcelona, ​​who holds the record number of times winning the championship with 13 titles, to only two titles.
