With around twenty elected officials, Ensemble is the first opposition force in this Assembly resulting from the December 2023 elections in the

DRC

. And its deputies will also make up the only group to represent this political trend. “

We are going to assume this responsibility

 ,” confides the brand

new president of the group. Christian Mwando

who promises that his party will therefore endeavor to block any attempt to revise the Constitution and to bring contradiction. “

We will not hesitate to denounce corruption, dysfunctions and to make the voice of the people heard

 ,” he warns.

An announcement from Ensemble which comes as justice ordered, on March 27, 2024, the provisional release of Salomon Kalonda, close to Moïse Katumbi and elected provincial. “

A coincidence

”, specify several leaders of the opposition party who assure that they do not see in this release a guarantee of appeasement on the part of the authorities in Kinshasa.

It remains to be seen who will play the role of leader of the opposition. The first to speak about it was President Félix Tshisekedi during his inauguration on January 20, 2024. An outstretched hand as a way of pushing the opposition to come out of its posture of protest.

Since then, Ensemble has taken up the idea while making it clear that this role does not depend on the goodwill of the presidency. It is in fact enshrined in the Constitution, even if it has never been claimed until now. “

We are working on it

,” explains Christian Mwando.

This will be in the internal regulations of the opposition which are being finalized

 .”

This role of spokesperson for the opposition, after the installation of the two chambers – therefore after the future installation of the Senate – will be logically proposed by the parliamentarians to Moïse Katumbi who, important information, does not need having been elected to embody him.
