Europe 1 Archives SEASON 2023 - 2024 05:00, March 28, 2024

Paul is a young musician of 22 years old. He still lives with his parents in Saint-Omer in Pas-de-Calais. One evening, the young man shoots his father with a rifle. When the police officers go to the scene of the crime, Paul and his mother are clear: this act was a response of self-defense to a violent domestic scene. In the victim's hand, a knife. It's Paul's, the pocket knife he received on the occasion of his first communion. In this home, the brigadier is intrigued by the attitude of this woman and her son. In his entire career, he has never seen such indifference. The atmosphere is murky, heavy. There seems to be a missing piece to the equation. Moreover, Paul claims that he only shot once, in order to stop his father in his fury. However, the investigation shows that five shots were fired. Was this crime an act of self-defense or anger? A few days later, the brigadier asked to enlarge the image of the crime scene because there was something strange with this pocket knife... Pierre Bellemare tells this incredible story in this episode of the podcast “The extraordinary stories of Pierre Bellemare”, from the Europe 1 archives and produced by Europe 1 Studio.
