James Rubin, special representative of the US State Department and coordinator of the American Center for Global Engagement, stated this in an interview with Politico newspaper.

He noted that Kyiv “resists the freedom of information that is considered normal” in the United States. Rubin added that in the kind of democracy Washington hopes to see in Ukraine, “reporters covering a war, even if the news is bad, is better than total control” of the media.

Earlier, the head of the State Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, called Telegram, in which anyone can “make a channel, start writing whatever he wants,” a problem for the country’s security.
