The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health spoke - on its website on the X platform - about two common cases that visit emergency departments during the month of Ramadan.

Among the most prominent of these diseases, according to Dr. Munira Al-Asfour, Emergency Medicine Consultant and Head of the Emergency Department at the Amiri Hospital:

1- Asthma

This is due to not drinking sufficient amounts of fluids during breakfast, which leads to dehydration of the body and thus an increase in asthma symptoms.

And also due to not using asthma medications, therapeutic or preventive inhalers regularly, in addition to overeating large amounts of food and not dividing meals, which causes difficulty in breathing.

2- Diabetes

This is due to episodes of low or high blood sugar due to not eating sufficient amounts of food, or not taking medications at the required times and doses.

Dr. Munira advised patients to periodically review the treating physician and consult him regarding fasting, to determine the appropriate times and doses for treatment, to maintain a regular blood sugar level.
