Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Thuringian Business Association calls for a renewed hearing on the MDR interstate broadcasting agreement.

The background is that the Thuringian employers and business associations were not invited to the hearing in December 2020, the association announced on Monday in Erfurt.

"This is an unacceptable process and an unbelievable affront to the representation of Thuringian entrepreneurs," explained managing director Stephan Fauth.

It could not be that the Thuringian state government wanted to enforce the rights of employees at the expense of other interest groups with the new version of the state treaty.

The new State Treaty provides that the Broadcasting Council should be made up of six employee representatives and two employer representatives.

So far, the appointment has been made equally.

It should stay that way, because that's how social partnership works in Germany.

The Prime Ministers Bodo Ramelow (Linke / Thuringia) and Reiner Haseloff (CDU / Saxony-Anhalt) as well as Saxony's state chief Michael Kretschmer (CDU) have already signed the agreement.

Now the state parliaments still have to agree so that it can come into force.

The State Treaty regulates, among other things, the mandate, offers, financing and the composition of the Central German Broadcasting (MDR) in the three countries.

In addition, he also fixes the composition of the MDR Broadcasting Council.
