Berlin (dpa) - The Eisbären Berlin can continue to build on their home strength in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Tuesday evening, the capital city won against the Kölner Haie with 4: 2 (2: 2, 0: 0, 2: 0) and thus also won their fourth game of the season in the arena at Ostbahnhof.

Leo Pföderl scored two goals, and Marcel Moebels and Lukas Reichel were also successful for the Berlin team, who ultimately deserved to win a varied encounter.

In front of empty stands, the Cologne team started committed and took the lead through Marcel Müller.

Both teams now played forward at high speed and with great effort, but also allowed themselves a few mistakes on the defensive.

The Eisbären were able to equalize with a goal from Pföderl, but immediately fell behind with Müller's second goal.

But Pföderl also managed a double before the first break.

After both teams had missed numerous top-class chances in the second period, the hosts increased the pressure again in the final section and took the lead for the first time with a goal from national player Noebels.

Reichel ensured the success of Berlin a few seconds before the end of the game with a shot in the orphaned Cologne goal.
