US President-elect Joe Biden nominated Wendy Sherman, former Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs on the 16th local time.

Nominee Sherman is known as an expert on the Korean Peninsula and Iran in the United States.

Following the appointee of the Secretary of State Tony Blincoln, the first and second leaders of the State Department were filled with personnel familiar with the Korean Peninsula, including the North Korean nuclear issue.

At the end of the second administration of Bill Clinton, Sherman was the State Department's policy coordinator for North Korea, who was in charge of the North Korean affairs.
