As Christmas 2020 approaches, the Berlin Zoo in Germany prepared a Christmas tree decorated with sweet potatoes, apples and beetroots for a family of four Chinese giant pandas living here.

The zoo also prepared panda-shaped Christmas cookies for the panda family.

The giant panda’s favorite staple food, bamboo, has also added Christmas elements. The zoo uses a "Santa sack" to wrap the bamboo for the giant panda family.

Although Germany is currently implementing a "hard lockdown of the city," the giant panda hall and other outdoor visitor parts of the Berlin Zoo are still open to the public.

People can still go to the Giant Panda Pavilion in the morning on Christmas Eve on the 24th to share the joy with the "Mengwu" family from the East.

Four giant pandas currently live in the Berlin Zoo.

Among them, the male giant panda "Jiaoqing" and the female giant panda "Mengmeng" moved to Berlin from Sichuan, China in June 2017.

On August 31, 2019, "Mengmeng" gave birth to twins, named "Mengmeng" and "Mengyuan". This is the first time that a panda cub was born in Germany.

The twins are currently growing well and have been weaned gradually in October this year, and their weight has exceeded 30 kg.

When they are fully grown (5 years old), the twins can weigh up to 100 kg.

The Berlin Zoo managed to ensure a sufficient supply of bamboo during the new crown epidemic.

A zoo spokesperson previously revealed to a reporter from China News Agency that the Berlin Zoo can provide about 80 kg of fresh bamboo for a family of four giant pandas every day, and will increase the amount of feeding in the future.
