- This is a press conference that we would have liked to have avoided.

We ask for help, everyone must be helped.

This is how the regional councilor Mikael Johansson (S) began, today's press conference at Växjö hospital.

The background is that the number of infections in Kronoberg County has increased markedly in recent weeks - and days.

The number of hospital admissions is also increasing.

- All curves point in the wrong direction.

We must take this very seriously, says infection control doctor Christian Romin Blomqvist.

What do they want the Kronobergs to do then?

Well, back to following the restrictions that have been in place since last spring:

  • Keep your distance.

  • Avoid congestion.

  • Wash your hands often.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Stay home if you are the least bit sick.

  • Travel responsibly.

  • Pay special attention to protecting the elderly and those at risk.

The infection control doctor has previously warned that many people have begun to relax when it comes to following the restrictions.

Now he warns too much that more people will get sick and die if they are not followed.
