Guinean President Alpha Condé, a historic former opponent, was elected the winner of the presidential election with 59.49% of the vote, the electoral commission announced on Saturday (October 24).

Candidate Cellou Dalein Diallo, the main opposition figure, denounced on October 20 "a large-scale fraud" aimed at depriving him of victory in this election.

The one who proclaimed himself the winner of the presidential election before the publication of the results obtained 33.5% of the vote, according to the electoral commission.

Pending the results of the electoral commission, the post-electoral context was tense this week in Guinea: the army was requisitioned and new clashes took place between the security forces and supporters of Cellou Dalein Diallo.
