"I don't set limits for myself": Fiona Ferro, 23, displayed her ambitions on Saturday, after winning her very first round of 16 in a Grand Slam by beating Patricia Maria Tig, 7-6 (9/7), 4 -6, 6-0, in the third round of Roland-Garros.

Emphasizing the hard work she has done mentally, the 49th in the world approaches with a cool head and very calmly her next round against Sofia Kenin, winner of the Australian Open at the start of the year and 6th world, as well as the rest of the tournament and his career.

Q: How do you feel after this victory?

A: "I'm very happy. It was a long and difficult fight. She didn't give a lot of points and played a totally different style of play from my previous opponent (...) It was very hooked. I would have maybe got the game going a little earlier, at 2-2 in the second set. But I put the accelerator on the third. I managed a lot of dampers. I'm happy because it 's is a shot that I don't usually use, and it earned me a lot of points (...) I'm very satisfied with my attitude, I remained very positive, I didn't show anything. right, I could certainly have been more precise. But the positive point is that I have another game to do better in two days. "

Q: What do you think made the difference?

A: "It's clearly thanks to the mind. I knew how to stay positive, not showing anything, it allowed me not to waste unnecessary energy. It was particularly useful in the 3rd set. I knew a constant evolution on this point for some time. I show less emotions than before. Since the beginning of the season, I manage to remain rather stable (in the attitude during the matches). Today I feel that this is where I can make the difference compared to other girls (...) Physically too, I feel very good, I think that I could have played another set if that had been necessary "

Q: How do you see the rest of the tournament and your career?

A: "Right now, it's time to savor. Tomorrow will be the time to prepare. Kenin is an opponent who has good tennis, she takes the ball very early. I will have to impose my game, that I make her move, because when she does not have to run, she is really very efficient. (For the rest) I do not set myself limits. On the women's circuit, everyone can beat anything the world. I'm just trying to do better and evolve in every game but (for now) the tournament is not over. I'm already focused on my recovery and on the next game. It's very positive to be at this stage of the tournament but it is not an end in itself to be in the round of 16 ".
