“A telephone conversation took place between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The head of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers noted that Artsakh (the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic - RT) was subjected to aggression by Azerbaijan, and expressed concern over the ongoing hostilities, "the press service quoted TASS as saying.

It is clarified that Pashinyan called on Merkel to make every effort to "influence the destructive position of Turkey."

At the same time, the German Chancellor expressed concern about the current situation, noting that the conflict must be resolved peacefully.

In turn, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a videoconference with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh should be resolved on the basis of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

Earlier, the CSTO Secretary General noted that the solution to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible only by political and diplomatic methods. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed concern over the resumption of large-scale clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh.
