30 July 2018 "The countries of ancient civilization feel the need to preserve history and to read its teachings to build the future. Past sufferings must be remembered to build a future of peace and collaboration".

This was stated by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella in his conversation with the Armenian president. 



The Italian effort at the OSCE presidency aims to find a lasting and shared solution for Nagorno Karabakh.

Mattarella has in the conversation with the Armenian president. 



Mattarella confirmed that the Italian position is equidistant with both Armenia and Azerbaijan, both "friendly countries".

This is also why Mattarella underlined how obviously Italy works for a peaceful and non-military solution, thus supporting the commitment of the vice-presidents of the Minsk group.
