Stanislas Guerini, general delegate of LREM, estimated Sunday that it would be a "political error" to modify the voting method for the legislative elections of 2022 by introducing the proportional, as desired by Modem and Gerald Darmanin.

"If we were to do proportional as the elections approach, I can't help but think that, perhaps, benevolent spirits would tell us that we are in electoral tampering and I think that would be a political mistake. "to do it before 2022, explained the deputy for Paris, on France Inter and Franceinfo.

"I am not in favor of changing the voting system, particularly towards full proportionality," insisted the deputy for Paris.

"It was a presidential commitment (by Emmanuel Macron in 2017, NDRL), we will have to wear it at one time or another, but I will propose that it be reinserted into a larger project, it is a debate that should be worn in the next presidential election, "he said.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said at the beginning of September that he was working on the possible introduction of "a dose of proportionality" during the next legislative elections in 2022.

"At a time when mayors cannot cumulate with a parliamentary mandate, when the French say to themselves that they are not sufficiently well represented in their current of thought, I find that indeed proportionality is undoubtedly a means efficient to do so, ”he said.

The MoDem, ally of the presidential majority, had for its part asked in August, through the voice of the leader of its deputies Patrick Mignola, legislative in 2022 with full proportional, so that power is "better shared" with French.
