[Explanation] On September 27, local time in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, the 19th batch of China’s 19th batch of multifunctional engineering units to Lebanon went to Beirut for the post-disaster assistance contingent. The first echelon of 20 officers and soldiers set off from the Chinese peacekeeping camp in Sinia, southern Lebanon, to Beirut The blasting ports and urban areas performed post-disaster assistance missions. This was the first time in the history of the Chinese peacekeeping forces to Lebanon that they stepped out of the mission area to perform authorized tasks.

  [Explanation] On August 4, a big explosion occurred in Beirut Port, which severely damaged the city within a radius of about 5 kilometers and seriously affected the normal production and life of local residents.

According to the authorization of the UN Security Council and the order of the UN Interim Force Command in Lebanon: China's 19th batch of multifunctional engineering units for peacekeeping in Lebanon dispatched 41 people in two batches on September 27 and 29, with 15 units of various types of machinery, vehicles and equipment to Beirut Perform post-disaster reconstruction assistance tasks.

  This mission is the first time we have performed an authorized mission across mission areas. The mission is glorious and significant.

Since receiving the mission, my peacekeeping force in Lebanon has been prepared for rescue at the first time. The Chinese rescue team will work with other UNIFIL troops to play an important role in promoting Beirut port reconstruction, restoring production order and maintaining local peace and stability.

  [Commentary] It is understood that the duration of the assistance mission is about 20 days. The first echelon arrived in Beirut on September 27 to complete the deployment, and the second echelon is scheduled to depart on September 29.
