Friday noon, a stabbing attack was committed rue Nicolas-Appert, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.

Four people were injured during this attack, two of them in absolute urgency.

A stabbing attack shortly before noon

"A serious event has just occurred in Paris. A stabbing attack was perpetrated in the 11th arrondissement, in front of the former headquarters of Charlie Hebdo, leaving four injured, two of whom appear to be in serious condition," announced the Prime Minister, Jean Castex.

The perpetrator of this attack is said to be a man armed with a machete.

He allegedly attacked cyclists.

The facts occurred on rue Nicolas-Appert, the one where the former premises of Charlie Hebdo were located.

This is where the attack on the Kouachi brothers took place on January 7, 2015. Twelve people, including eight members of the editorial staff, were killed.  

A suspect arrested

According to the Paris police headquarters, a suspect was arrested in the area very close to Place de la Bastille, with numerous traces of blood on him.

Castex goes to the crisis unit

Jean Castex announced Friday that he was going to the crisis center of the Ministry of the Interior after this attack.

"Under these conditions, I am obliged to go to the crisis center in Beauvau to make sure of the reality of the situation and its evolution", underlined the head of government, shortening a trip to Pantin, in Seine-Saint -Denis.

"Thousands of students confined"

After this attack, the town hall of Paris Center, which brings together the first four districts of Paris, indicated that "thousands of students" were "confined".
