Ten years have passed since the City Hotel was demolished in Enköping and the so-called "Gropen" has become part of the central cityscape next to Stora torget.

It has been supported and soaked what is to happen behind the fence that hides the desolate plot.

There have been plans for housing, cultural centers and archaeological excavations.

The latest in a series of plans is for there to be a hotel on the site - but it is an industry that has been hit hard by the corona pandemic.

Are you discussing with any stakeholders who are actually willing to make a hotel or is it just on paper?

-

We have dialogues and have had dialogues, but I can not say exactly how they are right now, but it is more than on paper, says Ulrika Ornbrant (C), municipal councilor and chairman of the PLEX committee in Enköping municipality.

Want to see a playground on the plot

Now the opposition is raising the issue on the agenda again.

The Social Democrats think that there will be a playground on the site.

- It is a ten-year-old pit that has polluted our center, so we Social Democrats think it is time to activate plan B for the Statt pit, says Jesper Englundh (S), Opposition Councilor.

But no plan b is relevant according to the ruling majority.

They do not want to give up hope of getting entrepreneurs on the train when it comes to realizing hotel plans.

But you have ruled for two years and we still do not see anything on the plot?

- No we do not.

It will probably be a while before the excavators are here.

But we have agreed on a hotel request and we are still in a process and we have not given up on that process yet, says Ulrika Engbrant.

But what do those who live next door to the plot think - and when can the people of Enköping get something more concrete?
