The authorities of New South Wales, Australia, have found businesses that violate the COVID-19 regulations in a pile and imposed fines on 23 businesses, including Korean restaurants, hotels, and clubs.

According to the Australian Daily Sydney Morning Herald, on the 19th, Safework in NSW, which oversees work safety issues, imposed a fine of A$5,000 (about 4.25 million won) for a Korean restaurant in Strathfield, western Sydney.

It is said that customers using the buffet restaurant violate the COVID-19 social distancing regulations, such as sharing food, spoons, and tableware without staff guidance.

Violations included narrow dining table spacing and unknown maximum occupancy.

"There is a potential risk that something shared in a restaurant could be a direct source of infection," said NSW Safework's Director Sarina Weiss. "The virus pandemic and self-serving buffets cannot go hand in hand."

Not only Korean restaurants, but also hotels in Darlington, near the University of Sydney, were fined $5,000 for the space between slot machines was too small.

Over the past week, 23 establishments in NSW, including hotels and bowling clubs in downtown Sydney, have been fined for violating the COVID-19 rules.
