Presidential election in Guinea: a timid start to the campaign

The race is now on in Guinea for the presidential election scheduled for October 18.
12 candidates are in the running including the President of the Republic Alpha Condé who is seeking a third term.
The electoral campaign officially started this Friday in a rather timid way even if the RPG, the party in power, is already one step ahead.

Apart from a few vehicles with sound, a few rallies and those large posters showing the head of state with open arms in front of a rainbow, there are few signs of the start of the campaign.
In recent weeks, "movements of support" for the candidacy of the President of the Republic have multiplied, most "sponsored" by ministers or senior officials, and strongly criticized by the opposition which denounces in particular the non-respect of health emergency measures.

Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, who is also the RPG's campaign director, gave the outline of a “

”
campaign this Friday morning
due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The emphasis must be on door to door even if meetings are announced this Friday evening in Upper Guinea and Forest Guinea.
Elsewhere there is a slight delay, such as the UFDG, the main opposition party, whose candidate
Cellou Dalein Diallo
is still traveling abroad.
Same thing on the side of the Pades, the party of Ousmane Kaba, where we still plan a meeting on Saturday morning.
