The situation on the ground in the Gaza Strip is taking a greater turn towards escalation, especially during the past few hours, indicating - in the opinion of observers - the difficulty of the mediators' task in reaching an agreement between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation that ends the escalating tension about two weeks ago.

The past hours witnessed a continuation of the Israeli Air Force's raids against targets of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), while the launching of incendiary missiles and balloons from the Strip continued on the settlements of the "Gaza envelope".

The mediation of the three parties

. Leading sources in the resistance factions in Gaza told Al-Jazeera Net that the mediation led by the three parties, Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations has not stopped, but it is facing severe difficulties "due to Israel's intransigence and its refusal to deal with the demands of the resistance in Gaza."

The sources emphasized that the resistance insists on achieving its "just humanitarian" demands, and is not afraid of the threats of the occupation, which met these demands with conditions.

As part of efforts to contain tension, the Qatari ambassador, Mohammed Al-Emadi, is scheduled to visit Gaza on Tuesday, about a week after a similar visit by the Egyptian security delegation, which carried messages exchanged between Hamas and Israel.

Al-Jazeera Net learned from a reliable source that Israel refused to positively deal with the demands made by the Egyptian delegation after its meeting with Hamas leaders in Gaza, and threatened to expand the "circle of fire" unless the incendiary rockets and balloons launched from Gaza stopped.

During the past few hours, Israel has strengthened the deployment of its forces along the security fence, east of the Gaza Strip, at a time when the sea witnessed frantic movements of warships.

Hebrew media reported that the Israeli army had drawn up a plan for possible scenarios regarding "security tensions" in Gaza.

The Gaza bomb, Hamas

leader Ismail Radwan told Al-Jazeera Net, "The threats of the occupation will not intimidate us, and we will break the unjust siege with all our might."

In a clear threatening message, Radwan warned that the continuation of the siege is turning Gaza into a "bomb that will not explode except in the face of the occupation."

He stressed that the resistance will not accept less than a decent life for the people of Gaza, and continued, "Our demands are just humane, and we will not allow the occupation to continue to tamper with the lives of two million Palestinians in the besieged Strip."

On Sunday, Israel decided to prevent all types of goods from entering the Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing, the only commercial crossing under its control, with the exception of food and medical supplies.

For about 10 days, Israel has closed the sea to fishermen, and prevents the supply of building materials and fuel, which has caused the only power station in Gaza to stop working since last Tuesday, and electricity is cut off for more than 20 hours a day.

"The occupation is delusional if it thinks that the resistance will remain silent in the face of the siege crime and tightening restrictions on Gaza," Radwan said.

Hamas demands and Hamas

demands that Israel implement what was stated in the understandings sponsored by Egypt last year, with the support of Qatar and the United Nations.

The understandings at the time included expanding the fishing area, lifting restrictions on the movement of import and export, and reducing the list of dual-use materials that are forbidden to be supplied to Gaza, which Israel claims is afraid of reaching the resistance and using them in the manufacture of weapons.

The understandings also included implementing development and relief projects, operating and creating job opportunities, increasing the aid provided by Qatar for the benefit of poor families, as well as infrastructure development projects, developing the power plant and ensuring the flow of fuel to alleviate the stifling electricity crisis.

Radwan stressed that "a decent life is a fundamental right for our people in Gaza, and the resistance is ready for all options and will defend this right until the occupation yields and responds to all the requirements of breaking the siege."

Anger, oppression and hunger

In turn, the leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ahmed Al-Mudallal, defended what he described as "the uprising of the revolutionary youth," and said, "Their activities on the borders are an expression of anger at the unjust siege."

Al-Jazeera Net, Al-Mudallal, assured that the resistance would not remain idle on the "oppression and hunger" to which Gaza is exposed, while the settlers are living a life of luxury.

He stressed that the pressure on the occupation will not stop until it yields to the implementation of the measures to break the siege, and it will not be allowed to continue its policy of delay and procrastination.

Al-Mudallal revealed ongoing discussions within the framework of the "Supreme Authority of Return Marches", and discussed the resumption of its popular activities on the separation fence.

At the end of last year, the authority decided to limit its activities to national events, a year after the weekly events, before it stopped completely at the beginning of this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
