Today, Saturday, an Egyptian court sentenced Mohammed Badi, the mentor of the Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Al-Beltagy, Safwat Hegazy, and 9 others to life in the case known in the media as "the events of the Arab Police Department" in 2013.

The Port Said Criminal Court, held at the Tora Courts Complex, issued its ruling today to re-try Badi 'and 74 other Muslim Brotherhood leaders.

The court sentenced 56 of the defendants to 3 years 'imprisonment, and in absentia it sentenced two in the case to 3 years' imprisonment.

The accusations


, for its part, the prosecutor attributed to the accused that, from August 16, 2013, they committed crimes of assault on persons and public and private property of the Arab Police Department in Port Said Governorate.

In addition to "influencing public authority men in carrying out their work by force and violence if some of them carry firearms, white weapons and Molotov bombs, which are used to attack people."

Earlier, the Port Said Criminal Court ruled that Badi, Al-Beltagy, Safwat Hijazi and 16 others were sentenced to life imprisonment, and 76 other defendants were punished with the same life sentence in absentia for each of them.

In addition to punishing 28 others in presence of temporary hard labor for 10 years, and acquitting 68 defendants, according to the charges against them.

It is noteworthy that this judgment is considered preliminary and subject to appeal by the lawyer of the Muslim Brotherhood Guide, who did not issue a statement on their part regarding the new ruling.
