Volynets said that the purpose of this course is to increase the general awareness of schoolchildren about the threats of viral diseases and how to protect themselves from them.

“As part of the course, it is important to explain to schoolchildren the basics of personal protection and the technique of using personal protective equipment, the typology of viral diseases and their potential threat, the rules of behavior during epidemics (also of the influenza virus),” reads the text of the appeal that RT read.

The need for this course is justified not only by the situation with the spread of coronavirus, but also by a low level of understanding of the nature of viral diseases in general, Volynets said. Particular attention should be paid to ways of their prevention, the document says.

“Another part of this course should be the prevention of viral diseases, including methods of non-drug strengthening of immunity: the basic concepts of proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle,” explained the chairman of the National Parents' Committee.

At the same time, she drew attention to the fact that in the framework of a separate subject, such a course should be optional. On the other hand, according to Volynets, the course can become part of the curriculum of the school subject of the basics of life safety (OBZH).

Earlier, the State Duma proposed to provide schoolchildren and students with free personal protective equipment. A copy of the letter addressed to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, is at the disposal of RT.
