The 59-year-old Roman, with a criminal record, who since this morning had barricaded himself in his house on the fourth floor of a building in Piazza Gasparri, in Ostia, was blocked and sedated, threatening to blow up the building with gas cylinders.

According to what is learned, the carabinieri and the 118 staff would have intervened and, after having sedated the man, they would have taken him to the Grassi Hospital in Ostia. The man, who did not respond to the police who were seeking a negotiation, was armed with a knife at the time of the arrest. In the apartment, 2 cylinders were found that the man threatened to detonate during the whole affair and that he had opened just before the military entered. The area is still off limits to residents to allow the Carabinieri of Ostia, who have handled the affair from the very beginning, and the technicians to carry out a remediation to exclude other potential risks caused by the 59-year-old. Nobody was hurt.
