Coronavirus in Ireland: a week of re-containment in Kildare

Since last Saturday, Ireland has reconfigured part of its territory: 3 counties, about 10% of the population. In County Kildare, just outside the capital Dublin, contamination has reached up to eight times the national average. Review of this week of partial reconfinement.

The re-containment did not surprise Brendan Short. This sixty-year-old knows that food factories promote contamination.

“  It was sure that was going to happen, ” he said. There are so many people here who work in these factories. Suddenly, the inhabitants are very careful at the moment, the streets are empty, more than during the first confinement.  Philosopher, he says to himself that a vaccine will eventually arrive.

Everyone was really careful, to follow the recommendations, and suddenly we just reconfine three counties, for no real reason in my opinion. I do not see the interest. "

Chamber of Commerce President Allan Shine is concerned about the county's small tourism industry famous for its horse racing. “  The businesses were starting to reopen, the bosses had rehired and trained their employees. For our hotels, our tourist attractions, it's going to take time to restart again, and to start attracting people from all over Ireland again. "

Companies in the region will be able to benefit from new government aid. Positive, but insufficient for the representative.
