Suspension of execution.

The young man from the Gulf stood accused before the Fujairah Court of Appeal on charges of running over the victim. The court of first instance convicted the accused, and ruled that he was imprisoned for a month and paid a fine of 1,100 dirhams and 50 dirhams in court fees. When the court asked the accused about the accusation against him, he said, "I did not intend to harm my friend, for we have been in conflict for a long time, and in good faith I tried to end this dispute and initiate a conversation with him by joking and intimidating him."

And the young man added, that when he saw his friend headed towards him in the vehicle as a joke, he completely lost control of the vehicle, which led to his friend being run over. He emphasized that he did not intend to commit the crime of running over or causing any injuries to the victim, and he did not expect a joke to lead him to court, pointing out that he has a good reputation and behavior.

On the other hand, the victim said that he was surprised by the accused’s vehicle heading towards him very quickly, and he tried to avoid it without success. The good intention does not justify the reckless behavior of the accused who nearly ended his life. The court ruled that the accused was imprisoned for three years, with a suspended sentence.

The young man confirmed that he wanted to joke his friend and did not intend to run him over.
