• Health What is mosquito-associated viral meningoencephalitis? Tips to avoid it

The Ministry of Health has confirmed this Thursday that the outbreak of meningoencephalitis detected in two towns in Seville is related to the Nile Fever, which is transmitted through the bite of mosquitoes. The counselor Jesús Aguirre has reported that there are eleven tests that have been positive for this disease, with 17 people already hospitalized in Seville, from the municipalities of Coria del Río and La Puebla del Río. Seven of the patients are being cared for in intensive care units (ICU).

The counselor Aguirre has also explained that it will now be the Department of Public Health that decides the measures to take to prevent the spread of the disease once its origin has been confirmed and repeated the general recommendations that have been made to reach the population of the affected area, and that have to do with measures to prevent bites such as the use of repellants, avoiding being outdoors during the hours of dusk and evening.
