The airline industry lobby, IATA, now estimates that more than 7 million jobs are threatened by poor health. Among these jobs are the staff of hotels and tourist sites. This is a million more than what was still estimated in June.
After the collapse in April, an upturn took shape in June. But with the threat of a second wave that seems to materialize, countries are gradually closing their borders to nationals of countries considered at risk. And the sky darkens again for the area.
In France, Great Britain and Germany, the drop in traffic in 2020 is now estimated at 65%. In Spain and Italy, where several cities are being reconfigured, the drop is estimated at 63%. This drop in traffic and more generally, the virtual shutdown of planes since the spring results in a considerable loss of earnings. 419 billion dollars less for the 290 member companies of IATA, which does not envisage a takeover before 2024.
