"I do not think that there will be any direct participation of the UN in these elections," TASS quoted him as saying.

He noted that the UN is closely following the situation in Belarus on the eve of the presidential elections.

“We note the importance of observing in Belarus, as in other countries, the right to peaceful rallies and respect for the rule of law,” added Hack.

On August 5 it became known that observers from Russia at the presidential elections in Belarus will work as part of a mission from the CIS countries.

The CEC of Belarus accredited 243 foreign observers to monitor the presidential elections.

Presidential elections in Belarus will be held on August 9.
