“The criminal act incriminated to I. Safronov has nothing to do with his professional journalistic activities,” the agency's official response to its request is given by the Union of Journalists of Russia.

Earlier, Safronov's lawyer said that his client had refused the deal with the investigation.

Safronov was detained on July 7. The FSB suspected him of working for the special services of one of the NATO countries. According to the lawyer, the former journalist is suspected of working for the Czech special services.

On July 13, an advisor to the head of Roscosmos was charged with treason. He was arrested before September 6.
