"On July 23, Russian airspace control devices over the neutral waters of the Black Sea detected an air target approaching the Russian state border," RIA Novosti reported.

As noted, the Su-27 was taken into the air from the air defense duty forces of the Southern Military District. He approached the object to a safe distance and identified it as a P-8A Poseidon.

After the American plane turned away from the state border, the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield.
