Piotr Pavlenski, indicted in the Benjamin Griveaux case after the broadcast of an intimate video - Christophe Ena / SIPA

He risks being placed in pre-trial detention. The Russian artist Piotr Pavlenski refused to submit to the psychiatric expertise requested by an investigating judge, reports France Info. He is indicted for “invasion of privacy” after the broadcast of a “sexual” video by former government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux.

"A useless and vexatious obligation"

This expertise had to be produced before July 15, according to a letter from an investigating judge where she recalled that her judicial review compelled her to "send proof of psychiatric care every two months". Any failure thus exposes the accused to a measure of detention on remand.

Contacted by France Info, Piotr Pavlenski's lawyer, Me Yassine Bouzrou, considers expertise as "a useless and vexatious obligation". His client believes that "we already have too many historical examples where, with the help of psychiatry, everything that did not correspond to the ideology of the state was cleaned up".
