The president’s words are quoted by Vesti.Ru.

According to Putin, he did not come up with this amendment, a proposal appeared in the course of work on amendments to the Constitution. The President specified that in total about 900 amendments were proposed.

“This is what the citizens themselves suggested and the members of the relevant working group,” Putin said.

He added that the Russian Constitution also contains “other things related to sovereignty.”

In March, the State Duma supported the amendment banning the alienation of territories, as well as calls for such actions.

Earlier, Putin signed a decree “On the official publication of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, as amended.” The amendments entered into force on July 4.

The President expressed confidence that the amendments to the Constitution would strengthen Russian statehood and create conditions for the progressive development of the country in the coming decades.
