THE ESSENTIAL

  • For the first time since the Liberation, the Bordeaux people are voting this Sunday for a second round of municipal elections. The city has known only two mayors, from the right, since 1947: Jacques Chaban-Delmas, then Alain Juppé from 1995.
  • Three candidates compete for this second round of municipal elections: Nicolas Florian (LR), who led the first round (34.56%), the ecologist Pierre Hurmic who had followed the outgoing mayor (34.38%) and Philippe Poutou , which had a bit of a surprise by gathering 11.77% of the vote.
  • Between the two rounds, Nicolas Florian allied with the LREM candidate Thomas Cazenave, who had collected 12.69%, which makes him now the favorite of the election, against the environmental candidate allied with the PS and the PC.

The outgoing mayor Nicolas Florian (LR) - who succeeded Alain Juppé in February 2019 - is given a favorite, but the ecologist Pierre Hurmic intends to style it on the post.
