Since 2015, DNA testing has become popular online in genealogy circles. Ulla Ejemar is just one of about 100,000 Swedes who have peaked and uploaded their DNA to one of the major genealogy companies on the web. And got a result.

- I've received 4,191 hits. Of course, you are most interested in those closest to you, perhaps you are looking for unknown relatives. The next step is to find out how you are related? And to be able to find out, you have to be able to do ordinary traditional genealogy, otherwise you do not understand how you are related, says Ulla Ejemar, who is also head of Archives Gävleborg.

And this is where the now-famous scientist Peter Sjölund comes in. "Larger than the fingerprint," he described the method that now made it possible to find a suspected killer in one of Sweden's largest murder investigations after 16 years in Linköping. He has been several times and lectured at Archives Gävleborg and the Association for Computer Assistance in Genealogy (DIS-Mitt).

- They are fantastic that through DNA genealogy he could find out who committed the murders in Linköping. But then there are some people who think it is very tenacious. Some even say, "Oh, now we are all in the police's register."   But we do not, because it is necessary to have really good knowledge of both DNA genealogy and genealogy to understand this. It is also just a part of traditional police work, says Ulla Ejemar.
