  The World Health Organization said in a statement on the 17th that recent findings "indicate that hydroxychloroquine does not reduce the mortality rate of hospitalized patients with new crowns." WHO will stop the experimental research of hydroxychloroquine in the "Unity Pilot Project".

  WHO officials stressed at a press conference that the cessation of the hydroxychloroquine test does not reflect any specific WHO policy.

  On May 25, WHO Director-General Tan Desai once said that out of concerns about drug safety, the WHO "Unity Pilot Project" executive team decided to temporarily stop the hydroxychloroquine anti-new coronavirus test. On June 3, the World Health Organization announced that, based on existing patient mortality data, it decided to resume the trial of hydroxychloroquine against the new coronavirus in the "Unity Pilot Project".

  In addition, on June 15, the US Food and Drug Administration revoked the emergency use permission for hydroxychloroquine to treat inpatients with new crowns, saying that the drug has too many risks but no obvious benefits.
