This Sunday, June 14, two paragliders had to be rescued after completing their flight through trees in Laprugne (Allier). One of them managed to notify the emergency services, but he did not know his exact position. Thanks to an application called GendLoc, created by the gendarmerie, they were finally able to be located, reports France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

One of the two paragliders had managed to unhook and descend from the tree where he was standing, but the other was still blocked at a height of four meters. "Thanks to the GendLoc WebApp, the paraglider in distress was quickly geolocated by the gendarmerie in the town of Laprugne," explained the gendarmes of Allier on Facebook.

Slightly injured wrist

The firefighters then moved to the site and the story ended well: the paraglider who had unhooked alone from the tree just suffered a wrist injury while the second was descended unharmed .

The GendLoc application developed by a gendarme from the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) allows soldiers to send an SMS containing an HTML link which then gives them the possibility of locating the telephone chip.
