INTERVIEW

"You cannot find a more noble cause than the fight against racism," explains Christian Jacob. Guest of the  Grand Rendez-vous on Europe 1 Sunday, the boss of the Republicans returned to the demonstrations in France against racism and police violence. But the deputy for Seine-et-Marne refuses to speak of police violence. "The police are reassuring, they are not afraid. Christian Jacob "proud" of the police

When asked specifically about police violence, Christian Jacob answered clearly. "Police violence in France does not exist, it is a lie", he affirms at the microphone of Europe 1. "We have seen violence by demonstrators but never police violence in France", insists he, saying to be "proud" of the police and "shocked" slogans in some processions.

He also refuses to call the police "racist". "There is racism in France as in all countries. We must fight against racism and punish it, but there is no racist police in France, it does not exist".

"Where were our two heads of the executive?"

"Faced with these insults against our police", Christian Jacob denounces "the deafening silence" of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. "Where were our two heads of the executive, when the national police are humiliated and insulted in this way?" Asked the boss of the Republicans.
