Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhejiang said Sunday that China will increase international cooperation if it successfully develops a vaccine for the emerging corona virus.

Wang stressed at a press conference in Beijing that China would make the vaccine a "global public good" when it was ready.

In the context, Shanghai Junxi Biological Science Company said it will begin, on Sunday, tests for a possible antibody treatment.

The official Liberation Daily online newspaper reported that the company had begun a study in its early stages to test its possible treatment of antibodies against corona virus in healthy people.

It is expected that the experimental drug will begin studying in humans in the United States during the second quarter of this year through cooperation with Eli Lilly, which Junchi announced a partnership with last month.

On the related front, the Chinese mainland recorded six new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, three more than the previous day, bringing the total number of people infected to 83,036, while the number of deaths remains unchanged at 4,634.

The National Health Committee said on its website that six of the new cases that were registered late Saturday night for travelers coming from abroad. One local case was reported in southern Hainan Province.

The committee also confirmed five new cases without symptoms, compared to two the previous day.
