France announces death of Aqmi chief, killed in Mali

The French Minister of the Armies Florence Parly announces this Friday June 5 the death of the chief of Aqmi Abdelmalek Droukdel, killed in Mali on June 3 during a military operation.

On June 3, the French armed forces, with the support of their partners, neutralized the emir Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Abdelmalek Droukdal and several of his close collaborators, during an operation in the north of Mali  ", tweeted this Friday the French Minister of the Armies Florence Parly.

Abdelmalek Droukdal, member of the Al-Qaida steering committee, commanded all Qaida groups in North Africa and the Sahel strip, including JNIM, one of the main terrorist groups active in the Sahel.
