“We have repeatedly explained on concrete facts that statements about the allegedly incomplete implementation of the agreement by Russia are unfounded,” he wrote in an article for The National Interest magazine.

Antonov noted that the difference between Russia and the United States is that Moscow is ready to “look for a solution to technical problems acceptable to both sides at the negotiating table.”

“On the contrary, Washington seems to consider it more important to get rid of the treaty, which, in the USA, is apparently seen as binding hands and feet,” the ambassador said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed that the permanent members of the Security Council form a position in connection with the US withdrawal from the Don.

On May 21, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would withdraw from the Don. The decision takes effect after six months.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the US decision is an unfortunate step in terms of European security.
