Stoltenberg welcomed a three-day ceasefire in Afghanistan

“I welcome the statements by the Government of Afghanistan and the Taliban about a three-day ceasefire on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr festival,” Stoltenberg wrote on his Twitter.

NATO Secretary General noted that parties to the conflict should use peacetime for the benefit of all residents of Afghanistan.

“NATO remains committed to Afghanistan’s security in the long run,” he added.

Earlier, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad met in Afghanistan with Afghan leader Ashraf Ghani.
