A 56-year-old man has filed a complaint in Cáceres for assaults after receiving two punches in the never before moments of an organized 'cacerolada' against the management of the Pedro Sánchez government at COVID-19.

The attacked man, who was wearing a T-shirt with the slogan 'Sánchez resigned' and carrying a constitutional flag of Spain, was in an establishment, after 7:00 p.m., with the intention of buying a megaphone with which to go to said 'pan'. Shortly thereafter, a man in his 50s approached him to reproach him both for carrying the megaphone and for the clothing he was wearing. After arguing for a few minutes, already on Gil Cordero street, in the heart of the capital of Cáceres, he punched him twice in the neck, an action that was visualized by several agents of the Local Police of Cáceres. The aggressor recognized the facts from the first moment and justified it within the climate of "nervousness" due to the political tension that has been experienced in Spain in recent times.

The victim - who in recent weeks was already walking his dog through Cáceres with the flag of Spain - did not have to receive medical assistance - according to sources consulted by this newspaper - but he did go to the police station to file a complaint for assaults and specifying that it was produced by "ideological questions". As this newspaper has learned, the attacker also went to the police shortly afterwards to apologize for his violent actions. In any case, as confirmed by EFE, the Local Police has forwarded this complaint to the Courts.

The incident occurred shortly before dozens of people gathered on Wednesday in the Paseo de Cánovas de Cáceres, to start a march on foot - with constant cries of "freedom" and carrying flags of Spain - that crossed the Avenida de España and San Antón street in the capital of Cáceres.

The motto of the concentration was 'Stroll through Spain' and, among other issues, it was required that the Alarm State should not be extended any longer.

SENTENCE

After knowing the facts, the Popular Party of Extremadura condemns the aggression suffered by a person in Cácere s "for the simple fact of carrying a flag of Spain". For the PP, actions like this are entirely "inadmissible in a democratic state like ours, and it has called on all political representatives, at any scale, to also show their rejection to prevent them from continuing to occur in the future."

In addition, the PP recalled that the flag of Spain is a constitutional symbol "that represents us all, and therefore should also be an emblem of plurality and freedoms enshrined in the Magna Carta." And he added, in a statement that "yesterday it was in the town of Moratalaz, today it was in Cáceres and tomorrow it can be anywhere else in Spain. These actions are the consequence of some, in public, pointing out and instigating against of those who do not support the Government. "
