The PSE-EE Secretary General Idoia Mendia has demanded that the Left Abertzale "root cut" the sabotage campaign committed by unknown persons during the last ten days with graffiti on twenty political headquarters, the burning of an ATM and in the Mendia's home address. The leader of the Basque socialists considers that EH Bildu -coalition in which the heirs of Batasuna are integrated- has a "moral responsibility" in these acts of support for ETA Patxi Ruiz in which the release of the 200 prisoners is demanded of the band .

Idoia Mendia explained in a brief appearance that she was alerted by a neighbor of her portal that leaflets had been thrown and red paint had been thrown on the access. The message in Basque of the pamphlets was insulted as "murderer" to Mendia and the Socialist Party, the hunger strike of the ETA prisoner in Murcia was recalled and amnesty was demanded for all the prisoners of the gang.

Mendia has acknowledged that the attack represents a "qualitative leap" in the sabotages that have taken place night after night in the Basque Country since May 11. That day, ETA Patxi Ruiz, one of the former ETA militants critical of his end, started a hunger strike in prison. Since then political offices and social venues of the PNV, PSE-EE and Podemos in Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa and Álava have been painted with messages of support for Ruiz and insults such as "jailers" and "murderers" directed at the militants and leaders of these formations. The last attack occurred last night at a PNV headquarters in the Lakua neighborhood of Vitoria.

Basque political leaders such as Andoni Ortuzar, Idoia Mendia and Carlos Iturgaiz have demanded an explicit condemnation of these acts from EH Bildu without success. "These people have to know that they do not have the support of any political party in the Basque Country, of none," said Mendia. For his part, Iturgaiz has denounced that "the acts of street violence these days come from those proetarras of the abertzale left who are the scum of this society." The Basque PP, through its president Amaya Fernández , wants the Basque Parliament dissolved since last February 10 to speak out against the wave of sabotage. The Lehendakari also described the attacks as the one suffered by Mendia as "inexcusable, unjustifiable and inadmissible".

This morning, the Álava General Boards did not approve an institutional declaration condemning these acts described as "fascist" when EH Bildu stood out . Different institutional spokespersons for the formation led by Otegi have made public an identical reaction in which it is pointed out that these acts of 'kale borroka' are "out of place and out of context" but avoiding both condemnation and disqualification. Lehendakari candidate Maddalen Iriarte has stated that the sabotage against Mendia crosses a "line" and has distanced herself from "such initiatives".

EH Bildu announced yesterday that he wants his deputy Bel Pozueta -mother of one of the radicals convicted of assaulting two civil guards and their partners in Alsasua- to visit Patxi Ruiz today to find out his state of health.
