Airmail International demand recovery 2024 outlook New Coronavirus May 16 21:16

Regarding the demand for airmail that has dropped significantly due to the impact of the new coronavirus, international airline members have continued to worry about infections and quarantine measures abroad, so international flights will reach the level of last year. It is expected to recover in 2024, four years later.

This was announced on the 13th by IATA = International Air Transport Association, which is a member of the world's airlines.

According to this, the demand for airmail, including domestic and international flights, is expected to be 24% below next year's level next year.

On top of that, it is expected that demand will recover to the level of last year in 2022 for domestic flights and 2024 for international flights, four years later.

In a survey conducted last month on airmail users about the reason, 58% said they would keep their first travel destination in Japan after convergence, and 69% needed 14 days' quarantine after entering a foreign country. In some cases, they say they don't think about traveling, and they are worried about infection and isolation measures when traveling abroad.

Instead of isolation measures, IATA is calling on governments in each country to take measures to ensure the safety of travelers, such as creating a mechanism to stop boarding the aircraft by measuring body temperature before travelling.
