Prosecutor's Office Amendment Proposal May be continued discussions between ruling and opposition parties May 14 5:02

Regarding the proposed revision of the Public Prosecutor's Office Law, which allows prosecutors to extend their retirement age, the opposition party is leaving the Cabinet Committee of the House of Representatives on the 13th and demanding that Minister of Justice Mori be present. On the other hand, the ruling party hopes to hold a question and vote at the committee on the 15th, and discussions are expected to continue.

On the 13th, the leaders of the four opposition parties agreed that they would not accept the vote as it is and agreed to withdraw the prosecutor's law, which allows the prosecutor to extend his retirement age.

Representative of the Constitutional Democratic Party, Edano, said, "I can't tolerate it because of a problem that impairs the neutrality of the prosecutor, and eventually the separation of the three powers."

The opposition party asked the Minister of Justice Mori to attend the meeting and ask him to explain during the question and answer session of the Cabinet Committee of the House of Representatives on the 13th, saying that the answer by the Minister of State for Civil Servants Takeda was insufficient.

In response, the LDP's chairman of the National Assembly, Moriyama, said, "Mr. Takeda gave a solid reply. I want you to proceed with deliberation as much as possible and reach a conclusion."

The ruling party intends to ask a question and vote on the committee on 15th in order to pass the amendment to the current Diet, and will accept Minister Mori's attendance and postpone the vote at the plenary session of the House of Representatives next week. We are also considering this, and it is expected that discussions will continue between the ruling and opposition parties.
